Strawberry Card - En liten Butik/Canvas Corp Brands

Today I´m showing you how easy it is to make a simple card using patterned papers and a couple of coloring pencils.

I have cut out a big strawberry from a paper in Canvas Home Basics "Farmhouse Kitchen" line. After painting it with my daughters coloring pencils I glued it on a card base covered with an other Canvas Home Basics paper - Bikes & Baskets from the "Watering Can" line. The sentiments are cut out from the Label paper that comes with "Farmhouse Kitchen".

I love how the strawberry turned out - it looks pretty much eatable!

Farmhouse Kitchen book cover - En Liten Butik/ Canvas Corp Brands

Today I am showing you a book cover I made using the "Farmhouse Kitchen" line from Canvas Corp Brands. This brand is now available in the online store that I work with here in Sweden. I´m so glad that they decided to stock the products since I truly love them and want everyone else to have the same chance to use them. (Om du vill läsa hur jag gjort boken på svenska så rekommenderar jag att du hoppar över till En liten Butiks blog).

After coloring the front of the book with paints, mists and stamps I added cut out pictures from a patterned paper. The union and lemon where colored with Glimmer Mists to add harmony.

"Flying" Card - Berry71Bleu Design Team

This time I bring you a card. Some people say that yellow is a difficult color to use. I don´t agree! I use a lot of yellow in my projects - have always done so the August challenge "Yellow Mood" at Berry71Bleu was perfect for me.

I have used a patterned paper (Thoughts Keeper - back) from 7 Dot´s Studio and painted the leaves yellow with Glimmer Mist (Marigold). The Chipboard from Blue Fern Studios was painted with Acrylic paint (Banana) from IndigoBlu to blend in.

I covered the butterfly with Micro Beads to give it a bit of extra interest. Stickers and tag from 7 Dot´s Studio´s new collections Lost & Found & Yuletide.

Participate in the Challenge and this is what you can win:

1st Prize
Set of Chipboards from Blue Fern Studios

Random Prize
6x6 Paper Pad from 7 Dots Studio

I have used products from 7 Dot´s Studio, Tattered Angels, IndigoBlu,  Blue Fern Studio, Wild Orchid Crafts and Prima Marketing.

Canvas layout - Canvas Corp Brands

Canvas Corp 12×12 Canvas Sheets really are so versatile. You can use them for a lot of DIY projects like pillows or bags, or you could cut it up to smaller pieces and stretch it like a painters canvas. There are many ways to use it that have yet to be explored. I decided to use my 12×12 piece instead of a white canvas as a base for a layout. Once you master your 12×12 sheet you can explore many of these same techniques on totes, aprons, pillows, pillows, tree skirts, stockings, coasters, wine bags and more.

To create the look I was going for, I started with covering the piece with a thin layer of gesso. You can play with the canvas with and without gesso to see how different they look and decide what will work best for you. After it was dry, I spray on my Glimmer Mists. Keep in mind that canvas is 100% cotton and will shrink a bit depending on the products you use, giving your page extra character.

As you can see on the detailed pictures, I added both stamping and some texture using a stencil and heavy gesso. The best inks to use are pigment inks or fabric inks, the others will work but won’t be as rich in color. The stamp looks very interesting when stamped over the fabric and paper to get a layered look. Don’t be afraid to stamp in layers on the canvas, it looks great and you are basically creating your own printed fabric with a stamp and blank canvas.

Do you have difficulties using patterned papers? Well, don´t be afraid to cut them into pieces like I did here. The flowers come from a 7 Gypsies Gypsy Moments paper, along with sayings that top each part of the page off just right. The Gypsy Moments Cards are also great embellishments for layouts and mixed media pages. Use the blank Apothecary Labels to write a little note or title that makes your layout more personal.

Adding touches of pink thread, cheese cloth and cords finishes off the page so well. You finished page will slip into your page protectors, can be adhered to book board or frame it for all to see.

I hope I have inspired you to use your Canvas Sheets in a new way today. Thank you for stopping by today!
